Now add what lies across each line. Cross Los Feliz Boulevard to the north and the land rises into the hillside this site calls the Los Feliz Hills. The City's SurveyLA calls its heart the Los Feliz Heights Residential Historic District, which runs from Nottingham Avenue to Vermont Avenue and north to Griffith Park. Cross Commonwealth Avenue or Hoover Street to the east and you are in Franklin Hills or Los Feliz Knolls. Cross Vermont Avenue to the west and you are in Los Feliz Square. Griffith Park lies beyond the hills to the north, so from the Village the park is on the far side of the boulevard and up the slope.

The SurveyLA report identifies a Los Feliz Village Commercial Historic District on the east side of Vermont Avenue between Franklin Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard. Its anchor is the Los Feliz Theater, an Art Deco movie house that opened in 1934. On the same avenue, the North Vermont Avenue Moreton Bay Fig Trees are City Historic-Cultural Monument No. 940, and the Disney Brothers Studio site at 1748 to 1756 North Vermont Avenue is HCM No. 1308. Along the north edge, the cedar trees on Los Feliz Boulevard from Riverside Drive to Western Avenue are HCM No. 67, and the Los Feliz Brown Derby at 4500 Los Feliz Boulevard is HCM No. 843. Hillhurst Avenue once carried a streetcar line, according to the City's Hollywood survey. Find the theater, the figs and the Brown Derby on a map and the Village makes sense.
