It sits in the shadow of the Griffith Observatory.
The hillside continues east of Vermont Avenue along streets like Aberdeen Avenue and Dundee Drive. Those blocks fall outside the survey district, and no official district name covers them. On this site they are part of the Los Feliz Hills too.

Which streets, houses and landmarks define the Los Feliz Hills?
The streets inside the survey district read like a map of the hill:

The district also holds several public stairways. The Los Feliz Heights Steps are City Historic-Cultural Monument #657, designated in 1998. They run along Cromwell Avenue, Bonvue Avenue and Glencairn Road.
Glendower Avenue holds several of the hill's City landmarks. The Ennis House at 2607 Glendower Avenue is the last and largest of Frank Lloyd Wright's four textile-block houses in the Los Angeles area. It was built between 1924 and 1926 from more than 27,000 concrete blocks, each made by hand from decomposed granite taken from the site. The City designated it HCM #149 in 1976.
The same street holds the Wirin House (HCM #812) and the Hlaffer-Courcier Residence (HCM #1069), a 1924 Storybook design at 2574 Glendower. SurveyLA also singles out the 1951 Skolnik House by R.M. East of Vermont Avenue the landmarks continue. The Lovell House at 4616 Dundee Drive is Richard Neutra's 1929 steel-frame landmark and HCM #123. Paul R. Williams designed a 1928 Spanish Colonial Revival home at 4100 Dundee Drive and a 1926 Tudor Revival at 2601 Aberdeen Avenue. What are the homes and the setting like?
The Los Feliz Heights district was subdivided in 1921 as Tracts 3733, 5337 and 4441 by land developers C.F. Cook, F.E. Woodley and William F. Thompson. Early advertisements sold the hillside setting, the panoramic city views and easy access to Hollywood or downtown.
The hill was built lot by lot. Each owner hired an architect to design a house for that specific site, so the streetscape is a collection of individual designs. The period of significance runs from 1920 to 1949. The district holds 317 properties, and SurveyLA counts 232 of them as contributors. That is about 73 percent.

Griffith Park covers more than 4,210 acres and is City Historic-Cultural Monument #942. Griffith J. Griffith donated the first 3,015 acres to the City on December 16, 1896.
The Griffith Observatory opened on May 14, 1935 and was designed by architects John C. Austin and Frederick M. Ashley. It is HCM #168 at 2500 East Observatory Road.
The Greek Theatre at 2700 North Vermont Avenue was dedicated on September 25, 1930 and seats 5,800. Fern Dell sits near the park's Western Canyon entrance. More than 50 fern species grow along its shaded trail. The site was a Tongva village and is HCM #112. The Civilian Conservation Corps built its trails and bridges in the 1930s.
Along Vermont Avenue north of Los Feliz Boulevard, the Moreton Bay fig trees are HCM #940. Dante's View at 2801 North Vermont Canyon is HCM #1091.
